



































Dear Terry,  From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry for your loss.   I was so comforted to see this movie that has been included in your tribute,  and especially joyful to see the wedding pics of Sylvie and your  dad!  You two are so alike , at the same age you could be twins...   The years we spent together, also with Big  Terry,  was much more than those fabulous Best in Shows.   She was a great mentor , to me personally, and I feel I am  a better person  from knowing her.  Everyone loved her so much, when we went out of state, far away, arriving at the showgrounds the day before the show, her fans would be there to greet her with food , refreshments and their dogs, hoping she could work with them a bit before the show.. It was so cool ...and we had so much fun... not to mention the great celebrations after the shows, especially when  she and Farrah  went all the way...one time she went Best  In Show three days in a row!  Here in california, other handlers, and our fellow Dane exhibitors were also proud and happy for her, stayed for the group, it really was a beautiful thing...  It was crazy fun...she was the best handler, at the top of her game, such a gracious winner, and the perfect example of good sportsmanship .  I am proud to have been  able to spend every second that I did with her.   It was hard to walk away from.  I am sure you are very well aware that you had the best mother ever on the planet.  That was her #1 priority  before anything .  I am heartbroken, but seeing this tribute   to me brings back good times, and  those pictures of your mom and dad, and when you were growing are the best !  So sweet of you to include many pictures of  Farrah... I will miss Sylvia everyday, but I feel so lucky to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

I have always felt honored to be part of Sylvia's family, and she always treated me like her second daughter. She never failed to make me laugh, and her Southend roots were a special part of her quick-witted English ways. Sylvia had a passion for many things, but most of all she had a passion for living life.  I remember her for the many exotic birds she had and the antiques she collected. I remember her impeccable clothing style with her favorite Louis Vinton belts, bags, and shoes, Cartier watches and her English Burberry touches. I also remember her as a professional dog handler who had handled hundreds of Champions, top twenty and number one dogs in her career.  

While we know that she is at peace, and even though she is gone, she has left the legacy of her love and passion. The ways she touched our lives will remain.

Loved reading all of the memories and seeing the many photos of Silvie's amazing life through the years.  We were neighbors (Just across the street) for three years and she was funny and fun and also would pray with me if there was an ambulance nearby even though we didn't know what the details of the emergency were.  She would ask for a "cuddle" now and again and I am grateful for the years I knew her.  She is now in her heavenly resting place!  I miss you dear Sylvie.


I first met you when I was a very little girl when you and my lovely Uncle Johnny (Douglas) were courting.  I was later privileged to be At your wedding when you married my Mums youngest brother, my Uncle Johnny way back when! The wedding was in Southend on Sea Essex, England, I remember being at your Mums house in Hartington Road for a party after the wedding, it was such fun, and I remember most of the men guests having a little bit too much beer! I adored my Uncle Johnny and when you both left England for Canada I was devastated! You worked long and hard, both of you, and made your way to California and learned your skills with dogs. I was thrilled when you both came home for a holiday with your daughter, my lovely cousin Terrie. In later years, I came to California with my Mum (Johnny’s sister) and we spent some time with you both and in later years met you again on one of your visits to your childhood home here in Southend on Sea. I am so pleased I got to see you briefly on your last trip ‘home’. You will be missed and I am privileged to have known you as an Aunt. Rest easy now Aunty Sylvia, with love Carol

Rest in Peace, beautiful Sylvia!!! Inside and out, you were always a class act!! We missed seeing you at dog shows in the last 10 years, but you moved on to another chapter in your life complete with many new good friends and neighbors.  Very happy for you. Now they will dearly miss you just as many of us from your previous endeavors will.  Goodbye, dear lady.

I don't even know where to start but since Sylvia had such a great sense of humor and irony I will start there.  I knew her for over 45 years.  She was a dear friend and handler.  We traveled all over the West Coast showing Amber and other dogs.   Once in New Mexico a judge choose a dog over Amber for the BOB.  Karen Lindsay another owner of Amber walked into the ring and said to the judge:  That is the worst judging I have ever seen, turned on her heel and walked out.  The judge said to Sylvia:  Who was that?  Sylvia's response was:  I have NO idea.  But this dog has a fan club.  Needless to say we went BIS 3 days later.  We laughed a lot, ate a lot and drove a lot.  She was honestly one of the nicest people I have ever known.  Rest well my friend.

Sylvia and I have been neighbors for 20+ years and would always tell each other how fortunate we were to be such close neighbors.  She was an active little lady and truly one of a kind.  I will miss her dearly and she will always be in my heart.

I remember meeting Sylvia 21 years ago when she purchased the condo that is attached to my mom’s condo.  She was always full of energy and feisty.  She was a great neighbor for my mom and she will be missed dearly. 
She was so happy with  her big cupcake on her last birthday.  That is a sweet memory we will cherish.

Dear Terry,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mom.  We will always remember the  big blue bus, the towering blond hairdo, and most of all her incomparable skill in handling the Great Danes.  Her sense of humor will be sorely missed.  She was truly one of a kind!

What I'll always remember about Sylvi is her towering personality, all wrapped up in her petite frame.  Her commanding presence, both outside and inside the dog ring was something to behold.  She was always kind to me and made me feel welcomed as a family friend.
