Retired Navy Corpsman, Tap Instructor, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather
Rudy Morales, a man whose love for life transcends the boundaries of time, peacefully departed this world on December 4, 2023, at the age of 83. Surrounded by loved ones, Rudy concluded his journey after a courageous battle with life, leaving behind a legacy of joyous memories that will forever remain timeless.
Rudy's odyssey began as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War, a chapter in his life where he exhibited unwavering courage and dedication to the service of his country. His commitment extended beyond military service, culminating in the completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration at Cal State Long Beach. For decades, Rudy contributed his skills and knowledge to the State of California as a Tap Instructor, a profession he pursued until his well-deserved retirement.
Fondly known as "Pops," Rudy was, in every sense, a great man. His life embodied the ideals of faithfulness, dependability, kindness, moral integrity, and, most prominently, fatherliness. Defined by patience, care, and a profound desire to be a dad, Rudy personified the essence of a truly great man, as described by Thomas Carlyle in the "Great Man Theory." His humility spoke volumes, demonstrating that true greatness lies in doing what is right for the right reasons without seeking recognition or reward.
Rudy Morales was a hero to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched through his caring and selfless actions. He cared deeply, loved unconditionally, and, in doing so, left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to share in his journey.
Beyond his roles as a Navy Corpsman and Tap Instructor, Rudy reveled in the richness of life's experiences. Whether walking, hiking, or participating in Toasters meetings to hone his public speaking skills, Rudy approached each activity with zest and enthusiasm. In his younger days, he frequented Yosemite, a place that held a special spot in his heart. An avid sports enthusiast, Rudy cheered on his favorite teams—the Chargers, Rams, Lakers, and Clippers—at countless games.
Rudy was a man of diverse interests, from reading and writing poetry to exploring the realms of photography and videography. However, his most cherished hobby was caring for his beloved wife and family, showcasing his exceptional talent and genuine interest in the well-being of those he held dear.
Rudy Morales is survived by his devoted spouse, Pauline Morales, three children, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving "Pops." May his legacy inspire us to live our lives with the same love, humility, and compassion that defined Rudy's remarkable journey on this earth.
