Ronald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy, son, Ryan, daugher-in-law, Jennifer, grandson Robert, his 101 year old mother, and 3 of his 4 siblings.
Ronald was born to Walter and Gussie Reid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When he was 16 he dropped out of school to help his father build the family home. When he was 18, he moved with his family to southern California. He went to night school, and finished his high school diploma while working. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and was assigned to the Transportation Corps. He was sent to Okinawa during most of his service. He was honorably discharged in 1967. In 1989 he became a U.S. Citizen. He worked before and after his enlistment for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 25 years, before they closed his location. He worked for various other companies after that doing Warehouse/Short haul driver until he retired in 2003. He spent his remaining days with his family at their home in Lakewood.
Ronald was a devoted family man. He was always working on things around the house, or out in the garage. He loved working with his hands, on cars, and woodworking. He would often meet friends at the coffee shop in the morning to talk about the world, and come home to some project to work on. He taught his son, and grandson many things from cars, to camping, to woodworking, to home improvement. During his most recent years, a small growing list of health issues slowed him down from some of the things he loved, but didn’t stop him.
