It is with so much sorrow in my heart to inform you that our dear and beautiful friend Richard Covarrubias was called home on August 23, 2020 and is now with the Lord. Richard and his wife Becky were married 47 years. I would like to express our condolences to the late Richard Covarrubias’ wife Becky Covarrubias, their 4 children, and 8 grandchildren on behalf of VFW Post 1944. Richard was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Richard was a proud member of VFW Post 1944 where he served as a trustee and a proud member of American Legion Post 411. He had many friends both in and out of the veterans’ community. Richard was a good friend to all.
Richard was born in Los Angeles, California on June 2, 1951. Lance Corporal Richard Covarrubias proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp (USMC) in the Republic of Vietnam where he did two tours. Richard was honorably discharged after serving in the USMC from 1969 to 1973. For his heroic contributions in combat, Richard was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and attended Non-Commissioned Officers’ School.
We would like to express our sincerest sympathy to Becky and family.
The family will release details for services as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Ramiro Puentes
Commander
