Mary Payne

Mary Payne was born in Winnsboro, LA on August 11, 1929. She passed from this life in the early morning hours on Christmas Day 2022 in Montclair, CA. She was one of fourteen children born to Jake Henry Payne and Mattie (Hartwell) Payne. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.

Mary was the mother of seven children and was a widow. Her children who preceded her in death were (twins) Mary & Martha, Jesse Roy Heckard, Ruby Jean Ryals, Charles Brown and her granddaughter, Nicole Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her son, William Jackson (LaVerne) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and her daughter Dorothy Jackson (Lloyd) of Montclair, CA. She also leaves four grandchildren; Anthony Ray Franklin, Reddrew Jackson, Tamatha D’Amato and Leandrew Jackson. She had great and great great grandchildren. She will be remember for her love of God and family.

She relocated to Los Angeles, CA in 1955. She worked various jobs but spent most of her working life as cook in various hospitals. She loved cooking and was very talented at knitting for family and friends.

Although she’s no longer physically present with us, her spirit and loving memories remains. As her family, we will miss her dearly, but we are so blessed and happy to have had with us for so many years. We know that she is now absent from the body and present with the Lord.
