June 16, 1922 - April 15, 2012
Margie Helen Stahr Artusheske was born in Strawberry Point, Iowa. She was eldest of 3 children of Eva Jurgenson and George Stahr. Margie remembered growing up in Iowa with a family that moved a lot, her father was a farm worker and they moved with the seasonal work. Margie wasn't allowed to attend school till she turned 6. Her mother felt the distance by bus was too far to travel. Margie grew up and graduated from Manchester High School in 1940 Margie met and later married Roy L. Cook. Together they had two children, Robert Lynn and Lanita Ann. Roy was drafted into the army for WWI where he became a POW. Upon his return issues arose and the couple divorced. A few years later Margie met and married Fred W. Artusheske, together they had one more child Mark W. Margie lost her eldest son to Lukemia in 1978 and her husband to cancer in 1985. She lost her mom in 1993. Margie felt lucky to have had her family around her. She was a woman of God who had great faith, an amazing character of generosity and who was respected by all who knew her. Her faith helped her through many trials and through it all she remained steadfast and true to her Lord and Savior. Her family is greatful that, while they wish she was still with them, that she has gone swiftly and peacefully to live with our Almighty Savior and that she will again see those beloved by her that had gone ahead. We know one day we will join her and our Lord and rejoice together. Margie is survived by her daughter Lanita, her son Mark, her son-in-law Harold her grandchildren Debbie, David and Granddaughter-in-law Megan; 4 great-grandchildren, the newest, Shawna; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, etc. The family asks that anyone wishing would donate in her name to cancer research in honor of her family members taken by and effect by that devastating disease.
