December 27, 1935 – June 10, 2025
It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Kempton Keith Carroll, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, steadfast friend and faithful servant of Christ. Kempton entered his Lord’s presence on June 10, 2025, in Whittier, California following heart complications after a minor surgery.
Born in Slab Fork, West Virginia, Kempton graduated from Sharonville High School (Class of 1955) and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College in 1961. A man of great integrity and determination, Kempton built a respected 34-year career as a claims adjuster and an attorney negotiation specialist with Farmers Insurance.
Kempton met the love of his life, Jane Carroll, and together they shared sixty-seven beautiful years of marriage. Their love story was marked by adventure, devotion, and joy – including their 30th anniversary, dancing the night away to the Ink Spots at the Catalina Island Casino.
Kempton’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane; his son, Casey Carroll and daughter-in-law Ann Mendenhall Carroll; his daughter Ginger Peach Johnson and son-in-law Derek Johnson. He was a proud and loving “Pa” to John Carroll, Carson Carroll, Anderson Carroll and Delilah Johnson. Kempton maintained a collection of photographs of his grandchildren, which he proudly displayed on the walls of his home office.
Kempton was deeply committed to his faith, living a life guided by unwavering beliefs. He dedicated significant time to serving and mentoring individuals within his community. As an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bellflower, he taught Sunday School for over three decades. His volunteer efforts extended to the Good Samaritan Center of EV Free Church Fullerton, where he contributed for 15 years. Additionally, Kempton's generosity reached beyond church activities, as he spent 15 years coaching local youth baseball.
Kempton lived life with youthful zest surrounded by friends enjoying guitar, motorcycle rides, basketball, and disc golf. Always nostalgic, one of his preferred vacation plans involved returning to Ohio to visit family and friends. His legendary storytelling talent endeared him to everyone, making his stories cherished by all.
Kempton’s life touched countless others. While we mourn his sudden loss, we rejoice in the legacy of faith, service and devotion he leaves behind. The family invites all who knew Kempton to join us in his services at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary.
