I met John twice. Once at his barn at Hollywood Park, and once at Santa Anita. I’m just a fan of Zenyatta, but he was so kind and friendly. He allowed me to pat Ziconic and personally told me a little bit about the horse. He’s going to be missed by many people and by many horses.

When I think of John Shirreffs my thoughts would truly fill a book.    I always loved talking to John outside the receiving barn at Santa Anita as we both leaned on the fence and watched the horses go by.  Any time I talked to John was a special moment.

Condolences to John Shiffeffs family. The best ever. I am a horse racing fan and I might  not follow anymore since he’s gone. Zenyatta would not have lost if it was not for the left hand of Garret Gomez. I respected him so much as a trainer that I bet Giacomo in a future 3 months before the Kentucky derby. Simply the the best Rest in peace John.

Johns earth self  was focused on being the best for the horses.  He was a loyal husband and would have been a brilliant father.  Godspeed my friend. Say hello to all our friends and may a ray of you be with Dottie and Anita for comfort.  Thank you for making a difference sharing insight,  love and listening.
