Easter Memory:   Irma and a rich, double, double chocolate cake!  

For Easter,  Irma would bring a Chocolate Cake that had so much rich chocolate that it was unbelievable.    Billy,  the kids and Irma would trek into the park and locate the perfect spot to lay out the blankets; add whatever they made or brought to the Potluck Table…  EXCEPT… the Chocolate Cake!  That beauty stayed next to her under the glass cake platter.  Ha Ha Ha!  

Chocolate upon Chocolate upon Chocolate!  

Oh, she shared it…. …   When she was ready to cut it….  I asked her one time, … “I could put it on the table for you”… she smiled… “No, it stays here…otherwise I won’t get any of it.  They’ll attack it!”   She was right!  Because when she lifted that cake platter off the cake… it’s like everyone knew and walked 
over for their piece of cake!  Ha Ha Ha….  

And she was right again…. It was gone quickly!    Now when I see a Rich, Double Chocolate Cake … I can’t help to stare at it and think of her… and her silly ways!   ♥️

I’m sure memories will continue to flood my heart over the years.    ♥️😌♥️

Happy Easter Irma… and hope they took confetti eggs to the park… another favorite of yours….  You would bring tons of those!  So sneaky!  😂 





I’ll never forget this night.  It was the night you convinced me to move to LA .  We watched Billy and the boys sing and spent the night wandering around Universal City Walk talking about how we would make Thanksgiving dinners together, raise our kids together,  celebrate birthdays, graduations and weddings together.   We had our whole lives planned out.  💖 

Memory♥️

As tiny Irma was as a child and so adorable, she was fierce!  Soft spoken, but her beliefs were spoken with conviction.   She didn’t falter or waver just to follow a crowd; she didn’t pacify to please the other… she was Irma.  Her strength came from within and it exhibited itself in her character.  Perhaps it came from growing up amongst boys.  Irma was practically the only young female cousin of her age group living in Los Angeles.  Her older brother’s friends became her close friends too.  She was surrounded by boys and grew up with them into adulthood.   Or was it the 1st grade experience which gave her such fierceness? 

They were visiting Nana (which they did almost every day) so, when I walked into the kitchen my Mom tells me Irma was having trouble at school.  “What?  It’s only first grade!”  Little Irma walks in the back kitchen door and my Mom rolls her eyes towards Irma to gesture for me to talk to her.  My Mom already had spoken to her, but after I saw the pencil stab wounds on her hand…. I couldn’t believe it!   I picked her up and sat her on the kitchen counter by the sink.  I could see she was scared.   After the “Did you tell the teacher?” and “Did the bully stop?” talk…   It was, “Let me tell you and show you what to do and no teacher will say anything to you after this…. If they do…and YOU get in trouble for doing this… you are not n trouble with us.  And tell me… I’ll go speak with your teacher and handle her.  Ok?  OK!”   

Couple days later… Irma comes strutting into the kitchen as if she was Queen for the day!  My Mom says, “She got in trouble today” & rolls her eyes towards Irma for me to ask her about it.   Irma did exactly what I told her to do….maybe a little more. 😂.    Irma tells me the girl cried.  And she told the principle what I told her to say.   Needless to say… no one bullied her any longer.   EVER!   She wasn’t a fighter but, if she had to … she’d fight you.   She fought her last fight…🙏🏼 💔🙏🏼

My beautiful Nina! This is only one shared memory of ours that I will never forget, Adrian’s 1st Disneyland trip. ♥️ I could write a book…..  my first memory of Irma was an an infant.  So tiny she would get lost in receiving blankets.   Eyes as big as a full moon and so dark you could see your reflection starring back at you.   It’s no wonder the stars sparked in her eyes.    She had a gentle, beautiful smile that expressed her love for you;…. her hair was black as Snow White’s, soft as silk and it crowned her hair in tight curly ringlets.   Even her baby cries were gentle… but maybe it’s because she wasn’t given the chance to cry; she had four older sisters. 

Irma was fiercely independent!  As soon as she could balance herself she wanted her feet to touch the ground.   Hence came the Baby Walker in her life.  Those contraptions were dangerous back in those days.  One unbalance object and tilt went Irma.   I would tie a rope around the “walker” and pull her around…fast!   Aye… she would laugh so hard her voice rang out to the outside world.   Irma was my living doll and I protected her fiercely too.   

Soon she grew up and went off to school; I couldn’t be there all the time anymore.   But, I knew all that was going around.    I got Kindergarten reports from her.  She loved to talk…. That is another story!    💔💔💔. 

The loss is too great for words!  You can’t stop a heart from breaking! ❤️‍🩹
