Grace was born February 6, 1943 and raised in Lynwood, CA. She made her home in Long Beach, CA and passed away from natural causes with family at her side while at her sister Rhetta’s home on May 21, 2022.
As a child watching her father, a high school math and science teacher grade papers well into the night, Grace vowed never to be a teacher. Then, while married and living in El Paso, TX, she obtained a teaching credential. Later she obtained a California teaching credential and so began a successful 30+ year career in teaching primarily 3rd and 4th graders at the Corona Avenue Elementary School in Bell, CA.
In addition to her many life-long friends, Grace was devoted to her beloved pets including numerous cats and a few dogs.
Grace loved to host holiday parties for family and friends and enjoyed many casino trips with her friends. She loved to travel and eventually shared that love with her sister Rhetta who happily joined her on several adventures including trips to Alaska, Washington State, Missouri, Sedona and places in between.
Grace will always be remembered as possessing a cheerful and fun-loving spirit and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Grace is survived by her two loving sisters Rhetta Alexander and Rheva Nickols (George), nephew Nick Nickols, niece Cassandra Gonzalez (Edward) and grand-nephew Everett.
