My Tia was like the sun because like the sun warms the earth her warmth made people feel safe. My Tia was contagious her smile and laugh would light up any room she walked into.
My Tia was strong, how strong was she? She was too strong! 

One day while I was taking care of Sophie, Sophie and I saw a big cockroach and we both started yelling and holding onto each other. When I told my Tia Betty the story she said there was no reason to be scared. She said that I needed to be strong and be ready to kill the bug the next time it came. It didn’t come back that day but when it does, Tia Betty I just want to let you know that I will be strong. We will all be as brave as you were. Your amazing cake cutting skills will be missed. Your warmth, laughter, smile and strength will be missed. I love you Tia Betty see you later :)

Betty my beautiful cousin and godmother  with a heart of gold and smile that would light up any room. My favorite memory is the trip to Las Vegas you had with Manny as a baby and another one is the night we laughed uncontrollably as I drove with you on the wrong side of the road.  I miss you and love you...

Her passion was to help others in need and was part of many charities within her native country.  An admirable trait that brought awareness and enticed us to donate.

Bety, para mi fuiste una excelente persona, siempre me hacias reir , tus consejos y tu sonrisa siempre los tengo en mi mente,  perdoname por no estar en tu ultimo adios, pero estare en mente y corazon, siempre te recordare con tu sonrisa alegre y tus malas palabras, y sobre todo la mujer humilde que fuiste , Dios te de eterno descanso y gracias por haber existido en mi vida prima hasta pronto🥺 mis sinceras condolencias a toda su familia .

The Amaya family will forever miss you. As a family we can all say that she was one of the best surprises of being home. She always came to visit us  and no matter what the reason she never failed to bring laughter and joy to our day. Tia, I hope you know that your God daughters appreciated all the lessons, all the stories and all the love you gave us constantly. Your sister appreciates how much you cared for her and how you were always there to help her move froward. Your brother in law appreciates the times  you looked out for him and our family.  Your mother wants to thank you for always being the strongest person in the family. Tia Betty you are an inspiration to all of us in this family, you live in us everyday and  each one of us, Vero, Susanne , Susana, Abuelita, Rember, and Sophie will  not cry because it’s over instead we will smile because it all happened. God will be blessed with your laughter that we will miss but we know that you are watching over us like you always have. 

La familia Amaya te extrañará para siempre. Como familia todos podemos decir que mi tia  fue una de las mejores sorpresas de estar en casa. Ella siempre venía a visitarnos y, sin importar la razón, nunca dejaba de traer risas y alegría a nuestro día. Tia, espero que sepas que tus hijas divinas apreciaron todas las lecciones, todas las historias y todo el amor que nos diste constantemente. Tu hermana aprecia cuánto te preocupaste por ella y cómo siempre estuviste ahí para ayudarla en su vida. Su cuñado aprecia las veces que  cuidó a su hijas y esposa. Tu madre quiere agradecerte por ser siempre la persona más fuerte de la familia. Tia Betty eres una inspiración para todos en esta familia, cada uno de nosotros, Vero, Susanne, Susana, Abuelita, Rember y Sophie no lloraremos porque ya no estas en cambio sonreiremos porque todo sucedió. Dios será bendecido con tu risa que extrañaremos mucho, pero sabemos que nos estás cuidando como siempre lo has hecho.

Una mujer única, fuerte, trabajadora, dadivosa, y muchas cosas más. Si, Betty nos hizo reír a todos. Su sonrisa estará por siempre en mi mente y en mi corazón. Especialmente cuando recuerde que ella le contaba a mis hijos que yo no podía cargar el cántaro con agua y ella tenía que llevar el de ella y el mío .  Cómo gozaba contando esa historia. 
Cierro los ojos y la veo bailar y pienso que estará haciendo reír a Dios en el cielo. Le doy gracias a Dios por haberme permitido tenerla como prima. 

Cuanto te extraño mi Betty! 

To my number one supporter, I miss you everyday. I always remember how you were there to see me go and come back from deployments. Your constant love fueled me to be ambitious. May you rest and watch over me from above, love you. Your Christmas baby. 

Soy tio de Betty, 
Tengo muchos bonitos recuerdos de ella. Siempre me hacia reir y compartimos muchos momentos especiales. La llevo en mi corazon y estara en mis memorias. Dios Bendiga a toda la familia. 

Yo,soy su tia la conozco desde que nacio,en San Salvador,la cuide junto a su madre Susana mi hermana,por 8 dias,luego la llevamos al Canton San Luis Nueva Guadalupe,Depto.de San Miguel,ella crecio conmigo hasta los 12 años,su madre tenia que regresar a trabajar para llevar comida a casa ,yo me vine a buscar el sueño Americano y despues  de unos años nos fue posible estar juntas de nuevo hasta que ella contrajo matrimonio y Dios la Bendito con una niña, dos nińos y un nieto. Dios decidió  llamarla,pero ella vive en nuestro pensamiento.

the one word used to describe the woman who flooded our memories with so much laughter and love. 
The first woman I grew to love and continue to love, reinforced by the many sacrifices and amazing memories she provided up until her last breath. 
Everyone that knew my mom had a special connection with her, myself included. Mine grew from the extra attention required by my mom to make sure I came out okay from childhood. From constantly getting into trouble, to constantly being disciplined, to joining the military, I would say that my mom rode through a rollercoaster of emotions raising me. I could only hope that she would be proud of me.
Reflecting on the time I was privileged to share with her, especially the last couple of years, I've come to realize that I was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to be there for her. Although the daily stressors of life were meant to spoil such important moments, I could only hope that my mother knew I tried and loved her. 
The thought of never calling her again as she was on her way to the casinos or hugging her and telling her good night will take some time to normalize. In her memory, I would have to move forward. I can only extract lessons from losing her to which I could apply to my loved ones. I’ll never be able to put into words the absence of happiness I currently feel and will continue to feel from the loss of my mother, but I will adapt. 
I will end this the same way I would end every phone call with you Mom, by saying, I love you Mom. 


 

Pase un tiempo con ella este pasado Abril. 
Nos divertimos y no la pasamos muy bien junto con su mamá Susana y su tía María Bernarda Leon. Me quedo con ese bonito recuerdo.  Que Dios fortalezca a cada uno de sus familiares y amigos. 

Mi mamá era una lucesita que alumbraba todo un espacio con su presencia. Se sentía su energía cuando estaba presente. Era alegré y disfrutaba de la vida a lo máximo. "Hay que disfrutar " me decia porque de aquí uno no se lleva nada más que lo que a vivido. Aparte de gozar también se dedicaba a dar a los demás. Aunque poco, pero ella humildemente daba lo que podía o ayudaba como podía. "Cuando des dalo de corazón, dalo porque te nace," eran sus palabras. Su ausencia se siente en todos los aspectos. La quiero mucho mom y la extraño como no se imagina. 

Hasta siempre mi señora nunca me acostumbre a decirle comadre xq la respetaba mucho! Darme cuenta de su partida me tomo por sorpresa xq deja un vacío inmenso por siempre estará en nuestra mente y corazón ♥️ Fortaleza para toda la familia!
