I was deeply sorry to hear about your dad's "pop" passing.  He was truly a wonder man with nothing but kindness in his heart for everyone he knew.  
I will never forget how he helped me with my apple trees and how to prune them, and the absolutely delicious apple pies he baked for me.
I'm sure he is missed by everyone that ever knew him.  He was truly a very gifted man, with such love for his family. 
Your family was lucky to have him in their lives for so many years.

When I enlisted in the military, it was a tumultuous decision amongst my people. I will always remember Fay as one of only two men who wrote me while I was away. The other man who did that is a few comments below, Ron Whittemore. It is something I’ll always remember even though it was such a small thing at that time. He wrote reminded me that service to any higher calling was a choice that few understood; and whether it be to God or Country, our service is uniquely our own decision. Although my military service was short and lackluster, I still think of Brother Wersky and it gives me strength in decisions that I find myself alone in. 

President Theodore Roosevelt said:
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

I think this quote is fitting to leave here to one of the last “Giants” in our common arena, Fay Wersky. 

I have had the privilege and honor of knowing both Brother and Sister Wersky for my entire life. As my sister Rachel stated, they were an extension of my church family. I have countless memories of hearing him preach God's word, laughing and visiting with his family in the parsonage after services, and watching him treat everyone around him with compassion, gentleness, and respect. Every year I looked forward to his class at church camp where he would share his love of scripture, and the book of Hebrews in particular. I can still close my eyes and see him there in front of us, smiling as he taught us, and so knowledgeable about the Bible that he could teach without looking up scripture.  He possessed a talent for making all of us feel welcomed and valued in both his church and home. I feel so blessed to have known him. He will be missed.

I first met Fay Wersky in 1954 when he started dating my sister. They married in 1955. Fay was one of my first heroes. He was very kind and I enjoyed being around him. In 1959 I accepted Jesus while he preached at the Whittier church. In 1968, he performed the wedding ceremony of my wife and I. Later he was our pastor and I had the privilege of hearing him preach every Sunday. We were sad to hear he had passed away but we know he is with Jesus Whom he loved and with so many others he loved.  He was kind, compassionate, caring. He was also a man with a great knowledge of the Bible. There may never be another man like him. We are all blessed to have known him and heard him proclaim God's Word.

We have lost a great preacher, teacher, friend and faithful servant of the Lord. Brother Wersky has joined his precious Patty and many friends and family, and we know that one day we will see him again.  There aren’t enough words to express how much I loved and respected this man.  His gentle and compassionate spirit,  great Bible knowledge and dedication to his calling was a great example to all who knew him.  He is forever remembered and loved.

Brother and Sister Wersky were an extension of my church family. Landmark in Santa Ana met monthly for Sunday singings at Whittier, and nothing felt so good as their warm embraces, those familiar songs, and having potluck together. Bro. Wersky seemed to fill the whole sky when I was a little girl, and his deep, melodic voice was made for God’s Word. He spent a week at Church Camp teaching us the Ten Commandments, their nuances, and, yes, my sister joined in because she’d skip where she should go and go to listen to either Bro. Wersky or his son-in-law teach. If he was the sky then his wife was the cool summer breeze, and their marriage touched all who knew them. My heart and prayers are with all of you, for individuals like Brother Fay Wersky never leave the roots of your heart.

And I have respected him for his dedication of life and study to Gods I no word for practically his entire life. His example on other young preachers is uncountable. Great friend and great man. In my view there was no greater preacher or teacher than Elder Fay Wersky!  He may not be recognized by many but a truly great man has left us. His greatest attribute was his love and faithfulness to The Word. He was first and foremost a student of The Word. I have heard him and seen him defend and teach The Word with courage and a combination of strength and gentleness.  We will never see his like again. My prayers for comfort and strength go out to his family. Well done His good and faithful servant!
