

Elizabeth Joy Chacko “Kunjumol” passed away peacefully in her home on May 29, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Elizabeth was born on July 10, 1941 to Thomas & Achamma in Kerala, India. She graduated College in 1961 with a BA in Chemistry and in 1963 obtained her BA in Education. In 1965 she moved to Pune, India, where she was employed as a Supervisor at the Chief Inspectorate of Armament. It was there she married Joey Chacko, who was her partner in life for fifty-three years. In 1979, Elizabeth and her family immigrated to the United States, first living in Dallas, Texas and finally settling in Cerritos, California. In 2003 after 20 years of service she retired from the US Postal Service, where she received many accolades for her hard work and dedication.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Joey, son Kristian Chacko (Sheila), daughter Susanna Garza (Mark). She was a loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth was a strong Christian who lived her faith every day. She enjoyed being an active member at Rock of the Nations Church and was known to everyone who knew her as a prayer warrior. She touched many lives with her faith, kindness and generosity and was a surrogate mother and grandmother to many others. During her free time, she loved to cook delicious Indian food and spend time with her family. Her home was always open for prayer, a great meal and wonderful conversation. She will be missed by many. A private burial service will be held at Rose Hills in Whittier, California. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
