Elaine Francine Jackson Adams

Widowed at just 35, Elaine raised her three boys on her own, navigating the challenges of single parenthood with determination and grace. She handled what needed to be done and kept her family moving forward through all the ups and downs life threw her way. Later in life, she faced the heartbreaking loss of her son Michael at the age of 20 and, despite experiencing something that would break most people, stayed strong and “didn’t go goofy” (her words) for her two remaining sons.

In time, Elaine met the epitome of a gentleman, a WWII veteran, entrepreneur, and pilot, Neal Adams, and began a new chapter filled with companionship and adventure. Together, they traveled the world and spent each summer on Blakely Island—her own little heaven on earth in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington. Affectionately known as the “Raccoon Lady” on the island, Elaine fed and photographed the island’s raccoons, deer, songbirds, and birds of prey.

Elaine had a deep connection to the outdoors and could often be found with her hands in the dirt, wearing her signature oversized sunhat. Her yard was filled with beautiful plants, flowers, and hummingbirds, and her dedication even earned her a “Best Garden” recognition in West Covina. She appreciated beauty, hard work, and tending to what truly mattered. She was also known for sharing family stories and memories, keeping her family’s history alive for future generations.

Elaine will be remembered for her strength, self-reliance, and the steady, reassuring presence she maintained throughout her life. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many places she called home.

She is survived by her sons, Bill and David, and their wives, Tammy and Nicole. Elaine has five grandchildren—Emily, Bryan, Morgan, Blakely, and Taylor—and six great-grandchildren—Jackson, Wes, Vienna, Zella, Logan, and Peyton.

Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with so many loved ones.

A funeral service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Memorial Chapel, on February 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at her home in West Covina, with food, drinks, and plenty of stories.
