Colleen Marie Whyte

Dr. Colleen Whyte was a true renaissance woman, but she always felt her greatest accomplishment was that of wife and mother. Colleen always strived to help people in any way possible. In her youth she became a registered nurse, and maintained her license well into her 80’s. She loved being a nurse, and later became a flight attendant for United Airlines where her adventure really took off.

In her 20’s she married John Whyte and they raised their son, Ian Whyte, in Pasadena California. During this time she was a proud member of the Pasadena Lawyers Wives group where she helped teach youth about the legal system.

She loved singing and participated in her church's choir throughout her adult life.

As her family matured, she returned to school to start her next adventure. She always said she was a “freshman at 40”, and she eventually earned a Masters Degree and ultimately a Doctorate Degree in psychology. From this point on Dr. Whyte maintained a healthy private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the Pasadena area.

During this time she also cared for her husband who had Alzheimer’s disease. This experience led to her continuing to help people, even after her husband’s death, by writing a book for caregivers entitled the “Alzheimer’s Couple”

Even at the time of her passing, she was working on crochet Christmas gifts for others.

Colleen Whyte will truly be missed by family and friends, but she will never be forgotten.”

A visitation for Colleen will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rose Hills Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Rainbow Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.

Colleen will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Mimosa Lawn; Gate: 19, Section: 2, Lot: 5013, Grave: 4.
