With loving memories, we are saddened to share the passing of Cathy Ann Dunn. Cathy was born in Oakland, California, on January 8, 1945, to Herchel and Martha Burson and was the oldest of four siblings: David, Diane, Robert, and Mary. After living a full and joyful life, she passed away on July 21, 2025.
Cathy was married to her late husband, Patrick Dunn, in 1977 until his passing in 2008, and she will now be laid to rest by his loving side. Their home in Whittier was the gathering place for many family and friend celebrations throughout the year. The fondest of memories were made gathered around the family high-top bar, where laughter and good times were had, racing forms read, and business and building plans perfected.
Cathy owned her own employment agency and took great pride in all the women she helped along the way, finding them not only jobs but careers. Her 30 years of success can be tied back to her ability to instill self-confidence in her applicants with her infectious personality and inspiring optimism. Her smile and laughter could fill a room and captured the hearts of those who knew her well. She made everyone feel special, and her generosity seemed limitless.
Cathy loved watching horse racing, Caitlin Clark and the Fever, Iowa State football, the Angels, and having a cold beer with friends and family. She is survived by her loving son, Chris, and his wife, Valerie; her three grandchildren, Jack, Abbey Jane, and Laney May; and her partner, Rich, who supported, cared for, and loved Cathy to the very end.
Reception to the follow ceremony at: Friendly Hills Country Club, 8500 S. Villaverde Dr, Whittier, Ca. 90605 (562) 698-0331 from 4PM – 7PM.
