

Born January 20, 1941, in Hollywood, California, she was the daughter of George Ruehl and Norma Schmitz. She entered eternal rest on April 12, 2026, following complications from gallbladder disease at Queen of the Valley Hospital in her home city of West Covina, California, where she had resided since 1956.
She was employed as a bank teller, student store manager, senior accounting clerk, and later worked in the Financial Services Department of the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Covina, where she served on the Church Council and in Stephen Ministry, and at West Covina Community Presbyterian Church, where she served for many years as Sunday School Superintendent. She additionally volunteered with Citrus Valley Hospice.
Cathy was a bright, highly capable, steadfast, and practical person who often provided sound advice to others. Her primary interests were her church, family, and home. She loved to travel and was an avid reader, keeping up with current events while especially enjoying fiction, particularly mystery novels. In later life, she became involved in family history research. Her research qualified several family members to join the Daughters (and Sons) of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her loving family.
