Bertha was born in Los Angeles, California on December 8, 1928. She was raised by her parents Petrolino and Herlinda Campos with her 2 brothers Antonio and Carlos, and sister Ramona. Her father passed away when she was almost 3 years old, forcing her family to relocate to Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1948 she met Jose Carrillo Aranda at a party, they worked together at a pant factory and had no idea that they worked on separate floors. She was married to Jose Carrillo Aranda in 1949. She always said that she loved the way he made her laugh.
Bertha was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church for 36 years. She enjoyed puzzles, crochet, prayer, cooking for her family, playing cards, collecting porcelain dolls, spending time with her family, laughing with her husband and frequent trips to a casino.
