Angelita Garcia Gomez, or Angie as she was known to all, passed away peacefully at her home of 63 years in Pico Rivera, CA, at the age of 97 years. What a Blessing it has been that God allowed us to have her with us and share her love for so many wonderful years! Praise Be To God for that!!
Angie was born in New Mexico to Angel and Anita Garcia on December 15, 1927. She was raised through her childhood and young adult life in the rural town of Fierro, New Mexico. She was sister to Robert, Benny, Henry, Aurora and Barbara. She moved to East Los Angeles, CA in 1956 along with her husband, Thomas Gomez, Sr., and young daughter Mary. In the years following the move to CA, they welcomed 2 sons, Thomas, Jr., and Lawrence, or as the family knows them, Tommy and Larry.
She is survived by her immediate family of daughter Mary, son Tommy and his wife, Michelle, and son Larry.
Angie was Grandma Angie to many, whether by blood or marriage, she loved them all! 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was Tia Angie to many, many nieces and nephews, along with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, Sr., and 1 great-grandson, along with her parents and all of her siblings.
Angie lived a beautiful life of grace and love. She worked with JC Penney for 33 years in Stonewood Shopping Center in Downey, CA, and various other retail clerk positions in her earlier years. She believed in working hard and giving to others of your heart would return an abundance of Blessings in your life, and that it did! Angie was the kindest person you would ever meet, always with a warm smile and an offering of food or drink waiting for you when you would visit her home. Her passion in her free time was good music, playing Bingo and watching her beloved Dodgers play baseball. She was so excited to see them become the 2024 World Series Champions!
Quoting her son, Tom, “We were Blessed for 97 years, yet it was still not enough”. We love and will miss you forever Angie. May you Rest in God’s Eternal Peace and Love Always.
With love,
The Family of Angie Gomez
