Ana was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico to María Isabel Viruete and José Félix Benavides. She was the eldest of 12 children. Being the eldest, she was a second Mother to her brothers & sisters, which meant sacrificing much of herself and working extremely hard to provide for her family. She loved her brothers & sisters dearly.
On July 16, 1970 she gave birth to her first daughter Ana Gabriela “Gabby” Diez. Shortly after, they both moved to CA. so that Ana could provide a better future for her daughter.
Ana met Arthur Morales Jr. in 1974 while working in a restaurant. After a 3 month courtship through a Spanish/English dictionary, they were married on February 16, 1974.
On February 17, 1976, Ana gave birth to her second daughter Rachel Morales. There wasn’t anything Ana wouldn’t do for her daughters. She supported them 100% in everything they did. She tried her very hardest to always make them happy, was very involved in their activities & loved them unconditionally.
While being a full time devoted Mother & wife, Ana began her journey to further her education. She soon became a teacher’s assistant at a preschool & instantly fell in love with the children.
Ana ultimately fulfilled her dream of becoming a preschool teacher after receiving her AA Degree in Education along with many certifications & teaching credentials. She was the first one in her family to graduate from college.
Ana loved working at various schools & it was there that she created lifelong friendships with her co-workers & staff. In her 25+ years of teaching, she put her heart & soul into touching each child’s life. Ana had kept in touch with many of her students throughout the years.
Ana loved music, dancing & singing. One of her favorite things to do was to go out with her friends “Las Quinceañeras” to sing karaoke & dance.
Ana had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her cat Solovino which she lovingly nicknamed “Pukis” & her sweet dog Capitan.
Ana loved her Son in Law Sean Newsom of 30+ years very much & considered him her Son. They had a very special bond that will last for eternity.
Ana’s most proudest days were when she became a Grandmother to Kyle (Kaillito) in 1994, Ryan (Rycito) in 1999 & Ian (Iancito) Newsom in 2003. They were her 3 “Ito’s.” She was a devoted & extremely hands on Grandma who thrived on making special memories with each one of her boys every chance she got. She instilled in them at a very early age the importance of faith in God & morals. Ana felt incredibly blessed to experience many special times with each one of them & to have had their loving bond till the end.
Ana is survived by her husband Arthur Morales Jr. of 45 years, her daughters Rachel Morales & Ana Newsom, her Son in Law Sean Newsom, her Grandchildren Kyle, Ryan & Ian Newsom & many loving relatives & close friends.
