You were my first friend at Cal State Long Beach. Because of you, I got through classes. Because of you, I learned so much. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about the time we spent studying at Starbucks, complaining in your car on our way to class, and eating Chipotle burritos. Words can’t begin to describe how thankful I am for your presence in my life. I miss you endlessly, Xio. 


On August 21, 2020 you left us. It still doesn’t make sense and I don’t think it ever will. Calling you my best friend isn’t enough, we always said we were sisters. We always said that we would be old ladies getting breakfast together using our walkers. Inseparable since we were babies and inseparable till death. Our bond and our friendship is something I know I’ll never have again, but I find comfort knowing that in the 20 plus years we had together we lived our friendship to its fullest. I’ll miss you everyday and I know you’re here with me in spirit and I hope I make you proud. Today we laid you to rest and I hope you come visit me soon. I love you so much Xiom

She was a wonderful student in class, but more than that, she was a kind person whose presence made the class better. Always active in discussions, thoughtful, and contributing in positive ways.

From the moment I met Xio she had such a calming and determined presence, I knew I needed to have her on our team. She started off shy and reserved but always took ownership of her development and success. That determination to succeed is what made her every managers dream employee to have. I knew if I worked with her it would be a great day. Watching her not only succeed at work but with her studies as well was such an inspiration. 
Even though your ULTA family has changed over your time with us, the imprint you have made will never leave our hearts. You will forever be missed and a constant inspiration to all of us.

Xio is now an angel watching over everyone pouring out her love and kindness. She will always be remembered as the funny loving girl always with the perfect eyeliner and the most perfect bangs ever!! She is loved and never forgotten. 

I had the privilege to teach Xio as her college professor. She was such an intelligent and kind young woman and I can picture her sitting in her favorite spot in my classroom by the window with her friend Noelle. I always take photos on the last day of class and am sharing mine here. Her warmth will stay with me. She always expressed herself so well, especially in writing, and I always appreciated reading and getting to know her through her reflections. I know she was a hard worker and had many aspirations for the future. I am so very sorry for your loss and know that she will be dearly missed by many.

Estimado Hugo, Micaela y Hugo Junior

Aunque hayan pasado muchos años desde la ultima vez que compartimos juntos, quiero que sepan que les mando mi mas sentido pesame por la gran perdida de Xiomarita. Recuerdo muy bien el dia que nacio, su tierna y dulce sonrisa como tambien sus primeros pasos y todas sus travesuras.
