William Cox

Bill got an early start in the movie industry as an infant and continued to do work on movies and television into the 1970's. He worked on movies such as The Greatest Story Ever Told, Hawaii, Ice Station Zebra, Planet of the Apes, Save The Tiger, Up The Sandbox, Ben and The Poseidon Adventure. His television work included Colombo, Mannix, McCloud, Cannon, Mod Squad, Marcus Welby, MD, Iron Sides, Emergency and The Odd Couple.

Always fitness minded, he combined that interest with his entrepreneurial spirit and founded SportsHealth Products. His most successful product was a hand strength and rehabilitation product called PowerPutty that was sold through chains like REI Coop, Sport Chalet and Eastern Mountain Sports. Power Putty was also sold to hand therapists around the world.

Helping along the way was his assistant and future companion, Jeanne Haworth and long time production manager, Mario Rangel. Anthony Woods came along later to run the front office and handle bookkeeping.

Bill's first love was golf, a sport he took up as a teenager. He worked at the golf course at Griffith Park to be around the game and to get free access to practice rounds at the course. He patented a practice device that trained golfers to learn proper wrist alignment. He continued to play a weekly round with his friends into his 70's.

He had 13 nieces and nephews to whom he was lovingly just "Uncle Bill". His sense of humor would appear at every family event, keeping things light and fun.

He lived and worked in Glendale, California for 35 years and spent the last five years of his life enjoying the sun and ocean in Dana Point, California.

William will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Summit Lawn; Gate: 17, Section: 3, Lot: 2312, Grave: 1.
