On Thursday, April 11, 2019, Virginia Carol Medina, known to her family and friends as “Ginny or Virgie” passed away peacefully at the age of 71 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by an overwhelming expression of love from her family and friends. When she took her last breath her husband, daughter, and niece were by her side. Virginia was born, March 15, 1948, in San Gabriel, California to Jose Natividad Mendoza and Lupe Mendoza. In 1966, she graduated from Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights, California. On February 15, 1969, she married Hermenejildo (Hermen) Medina Jr., and together they raised three children in Monterey Park, California. During Ginny’s stay at Pasadena Meadows in Pasadena, California, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a small ceremony witnessed by their children and grandchildren. She worked as a bookkeeper for Royal Meat Packing before becoming a full time mother upon the arrival of her second son. She was a selfless woman who adored her family, loved music, dancing, sewing, knitting, sending cards, and talking on the phone. She had a welcoming personality and treated everyone like they were part of her family. If you were lucky enough to be called “mijo or mija” by Ginny, you knew she accepted you as a full fledged member of her family. She is survived by her husband Hermen; two sons Hermie and Robert; daughter Erlinda; daughter in-laws Gloria and Marioan, daughter’s boyfriend Steve; grandchildren Ruben, Diego, Samuel, Elias, and Mateo; Great-grandson Isaiah; sister Anna, and all her extended family and friends. We invite all those touched by Ginny’s love and friendship to celebrate her life at Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary at a rosary on April 29th at 6pm and a burial service on April 30th at 11am. Please join us as we reminisce, grieve, and support each other during this difficult time.
