On the evening of Friday, June 21, 2019, Violet Maria (Jahn) Freeborn of Pomona California, passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 83.
Vi, as she was known by nearly everyone, was born to Robert and Mabel Jahn on February 21, 1936. Following high school graduation in Grand Ronde, Oregon, she attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, where she received her B.A. degree. Two weeks before commencement on May 22, 1958, she married fellow student E. Dee Freeborn. While Dee entered Nazarene Theological Seminary to study for the Christian ministry, Vi taught elementary school.
During her career Vi was a teacher, a pastor’s wife and operated a licensed home day care. The last years leading up to retirement she was employed as a Federal Food Program facilitator and trainer for the Day Care Connection of Lenexa, Kansas.
Violet is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Alvin, Harvey and Mervin, sisters Helen and Beulah. She is survived by her husband Dee, two children, Dana Jean and Earl Daniel, his wife Svetlana and grandchildren Ksenia and Sasha. She is also survived by her twin sister Dorothy Spicer of Canby, Oregon and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service was held June 30, 2019 in First Church of the Nazarene, Pasadena, California with Rev. Tara Beth Leach presiding.
