Terrelle Jean (Canty) Dotson was born May 19th, 1936 in Homer, Louisiana to Julius Ceasar and Abbie Pearl Canty. She was the youngest of three daughters. She grew up working on her family’s farm and in their country store. Terrell married at the young age of 15 to Eulis W. Kelly and on May 18, 1956 she gave birth to her only child, a son Gerald.
In 1958 the young family moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked in a dress shop. Terrelle and Eulis later divorced in 1964. Terrelle and Gerald moved to Los Angeles, California where she got a job at Max Factor Cosmetics Company. She later worked at Hughes Aircraft Co.
In 1971 Terrelle married Ward L. Dotson from Brenham, Texas. The family welcomed the addition of Dennis Holbert, nephew of Ward, after the passing of Dennis’ mother. Terrelle and Ward moved to Paramount, California in 1972, and later retired to Apple Valley, California.
Terrelle is predeceased by her father, Julius Canty, sisters Abbie Loretta Canty and Jennelle Pickens; her mother, Abbie P. Canty; and her husband, Ward L. Dotson. Terrelle is survived by her son Gerald Kelly; his wife Donna Kelly, granddaughters Kristen Patino (Juan Patino) and Lacey Parayno (Richard Parayno) great-granddaughter Avery Parayno; along with many family members and friends who loved and will miss
her dearly.
