

Susan Lynette Butler Blair was born on October 18, 1957, to Cecil Butler and Frances Delores Sims Butler. She was the baby of nine born to this union. After graduating from Colonel White High School in Dayton, Ohio, her and her cousin Melanie attended Central State University in Xenia, Ohio. She later lived in Detroit, Michigan for a short period of time before moving to Los Angeles, California with her brother Byron. Susan considered Los Angeles her home for over 40 years and the Los Angeles Lakers her team. In Susan’s mind, she was a team member, Purple and Gold all the way.
Susan was united in Holy Matrimony to Brian Keith Blair. She loving referred to him as “Babe” and “My husband” (… stretching the husband out). To this union, one son was born, Jamal Keith Blair, her pride and joy.
Susan worked as a dispatcher for the Continental Cable Company. She later worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District until her retirement in 2023.
Susan danced to her own beat; always a smile, happy go lucky and a free spirit.
Susan will be missed by all who knew her. Susan was proceeded in death by her parents Cecil and Frances Butler, and brother George Butler. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband Brian Keith Blair and son Jamal Keith Blair; Brothers: Jerry Butler and Robin (Cincinnati, Ohio); Cecil Butler (Dayton, Ohio); Byron and Wanda Butler (Carson, California); sisters: Delores Butler and Godfrey Dillard (Atlanta, Georgia); Jacqueline Butler Wiley (Livonia, Michigan); Arlene Butler Harris-Moore (Atlanta, Georgia); Candace Butler (Dayton, Ohio); Cousins: Melanie Dawn Smith (Dayton, Ohio); Donna Rhea-Bailey (Smyrna, Georgia); Atanya Brown (Columbus, Ohio); numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, especially “little Tommy”.
A Funeral Service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Memorial Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601, US, on July 22, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
