Shelba Jean Bailey

Shelba Jean Bailey passed away peacefully on July 12th after a 33 year long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Shelba was born in Van Buren, Arkansas on February 15, 1937, to Victor and Effie Whitfield. She is the youngest of their three daughters.

The Whitfield family moved to Bell Gardens, California in 1942. Shortly thereafter they relocated to Maywood, where Shelba graduated from Whittier High School. She then went on to work for Chrysler Automotive.

Shelba and Roger met in 1953 and were married August 5, 1955. They resided in La Mirada for 56 years where they raised their two daughters Cindy and Michelle. They made several lifelong friends in this wonderful neighborhood.

She enjoyed spending time in Crestline at the family cabin as well as taking trips to Vegas and Laughlin. She loved shopping, bowling, dancing, spending time with family and friends and watching all sports especially football and her all-time favorite Tom Brady.

She had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh and a giant love for her family and friends.

Shelba is superseded in death by her parents, Victor and Effie Whitfield, her sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Dan Stone and her nephew Bobby Beaudette.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roger, daughters Cindy and Michelle, son-in-law Tim, Grandsons Timothy and Jacob, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Services will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in the Hillside Chapel on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Hillside Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.

Shelba will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Lupine Lawn; Gate: 1, Section: 6, Lot: 1630, Grave: 1.

Following the graveside service, we will be hosting a light lunch. (Location to be determined).
