Rich was born on September 1, 1957 in El Monte, California to David George and Sherry Lou (Gravett) MacDonald. A lifelong athlete, he lived a passion-filled life of adventure, travel, tennis and surfing before settling in Orange County to focus on his family.
Rich was well known in racing communities for his tireless work preserving the legacy of his father, and he spent the last decades of his life dedicated to ensuring Dave MacDonald received the recognition he deserved. He found great joy and fulfillment in his work for Superformance, culminating in his work on the movie Ford V Ferrari, which drove worldwide interest in Shelby racing.
Rich is survived by his greatest joys: his wife Lisa, his children Kirra and Cheyne, his grandchildren Bowie, Luke and Gianna, and his sister Vicki.
A private family service will be held at Rose Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
Appendiceal Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation
Hoag Hospital Foundation (directed to Cancer Research or their nursing program)
The family would like to thank his friends, his customers, Superformance and the doctors and nurses of Hoag and UCI for their prayers, care and support.
Rich will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His journey will forever inspire us all.
