Happy Mother's Day, Monica! ❤️🙏🙏☝️

I am saddened to hear about Monica's passing. She was a dear friend to me when we were in high school. We became fast friends because we hung out with the swimteam (her brother Sal was on it with my neighbors Jose and Marcela Cisneros).  We both shared a love for music from The Smiths and Morrissey. I remember one Halloween she made me a leprochaun costume, from scratch! It was amazing. I will always remember you, Monicaca (I used to tease her with that nickname).  May you rest in peace and God bless your family. 

I got to meet Monica at work when I started there about 6 years ago. As an Itinerant that only is there once a week it's often difficult to meet people. But Monica embraced me the moment we met. She always stopped by to say hi and she would offer me coffee. We would often talk about our kids, husbands and just life. She had the prettiest eyes and great smile. Always in a wonderful mood. It's very rare to meet a person like her. I offer my deepest condolences to her family. 

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Monica was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, and sister in addition to a great coworker. I loved speaking to her most morning at State Street ES.  She was so very proud of her boys.  Monica was such a talented artist. Her crafts and baskets were so beautiful and unique. She always had a smile on her face and made sure teachers received the supplies they needed for their students. Monica will be in my heart forever. To the family of my dearly departed cousin,  I say to you all I am truly sorry for your loss.  Monica was a beautiful and wonderful woman,  wife, mother, daughter,  sister, aunt, cousin and friend! I have very beautiful memories of her. I recall our younger years when we would all gather together at our grand parents house for their anniversary.  It was a beautiful time we all shared where we got to see each other and reconnect as family. Well, life passed and we grew up. Then I recall her wedding. She looked beautiful and of course Raul looked handsome as well. They married in a beautiful small church.  I recall it rained that day but that did not dampen the occasion at all! Much love was seen and felt that beautiful day! Fast forward to the day of Raulitos birth, it was one of the most beautiful days of her life! For that day she became a mother, she made her husband a father and she made her parents grandparents! It was a wonderful day! When Alex was born she couldn't have been happier! For she was a beautiful mother of two beautiful boys. I have to say that I saw her as a fiercely loving,  protective,  and humble mother and wife.  Her smile, joy and laughter always filled the room.  Fast-forward to when I last saw her, she had a beautiful allure of strength, resilience and calmness.  I asked her how she was and her response was, " I'm fine." And as she said it, she held her beautiful head high and smiled! That imagine of her showing so much strength,  resilience and conviction will stay with me forever because she taught me in that moment that no matter what you're going through in your life,  put a smile on your face and take on the day with positive affirmations! I love you prima! I miss you!

Monica was a beautiful soul! She had a side to her that I understood well! I felt honored that, growing up as teens she would share her thoughts and worries with me. At that time she was my little sister! I admired how she organized her things and had an artist side that was special to her. We had many deep conversations and I’ll always cherish them in my heart and mind! I’m grate to you for allowing me the honor to be your Godmother and Maid of Honor ♥️…Although distance and time was put in our lives… heart to heart we connected and we  were never apart! I’ll miss you Monina! As my grandma Anita used to call you..🥹 until we meet again,  in heavenly peace May you rest!!!
