Born the second child of five children, she grew up in the Great Depression era of the 1930s, and was forced to quit school in the 11th grade to go to work to help her family make ends meet. During World War II, when she was 20 years old, she joined the U. S. Navy and served as an aviation storekeeper, and it was there she met Raymond Wells, the man who was to become her husband. They married in 1948 and had two daughters who were the light of their lives.
Mary had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Norwalk Assembly of God Church for many years, and was very involved with the Women’s Ministries and participated in many other activities of the church. Her generous nature and willingness to be helpful endeared her to all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Raymond, her two daughters Deborah Grilli (Duane) of Ukiah, CA, and Lori Loza (Keven) of Surfside, CA, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Mary’s caregivers, Mae, Lila, and Ofelia, for the loving and attentive care they provided in the last years of Mary’s life.
The Hope of the Resurrection
And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
