I just learned about Leon's passing, and I am devastated.  Here it is now more than a year of his death, and I am destroyed.  I figured something had happened since I had not received another email from him beyond June 2020.  I guess part of me was scared to know, and part of me was restrained by the lockdowns and the covid issue.  I had not seen him all of 2020 and part of 2019.  we used to go to breakfast together on Saturday mornings, sometimes Sunday mornings, and I had known him since his days at the immigration office in downtown.  Leon, I miss you; I may never see you again, even when I die.  But I miss you so much.  You were my true friend, and maybe my only friend.   I spent time with you, but it could  have been more time.  Now you are gone, and that house on Myrtle Street in North Long Beach no longer has your presence.  I am shattered, and i guess a part of me now is dead too.  To your nephews and siblings, I extend my belated condolence, but know that in my heart, you were like an older brother -- a father figure, if you will.   I truly love you Leon, and I will miss you now and forever.   Rest in Peace my immigration officer friend who loved basketball and a great breakfast.
