Josefina Ramirez Sanchez

Josefina Ramírez Sánchez, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17th, 2024 at her Las Vegas residence while surrounded by family.

Josefina was born March 19th, 1935 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico to Francisco and Ernestina Ramirez. As the second eldest of 10 children, Josefina took great pride in helping raise her brothers and sisters. She was married to the late José Eutimio Sánchez on February 27th, 1954, in Mascota, Jalisco, MX. The pair and their young family immigrated to California, USA in 1960. Josefina soon considered Southern California to be her true home, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1989.

While living in California, Josefina worked as a packer for California Mushroom Farms from 1960 to 1966, and then as an assembly line worker for Prudential Overall until her retirement in 1995. However, her family and friends know that she never retired from being a caretaker to anyone in need. Her previous home in Whittier, CA is often remembered as a safe place that was welcoming to all. Josefina moved to Las Vegas, NV after her retirement to be with her youngest daughter and grandchildren.

Josefina was a devout Catholic and follower of Christ. She spent most of her mornings with a cup of coffee and her bible, reading scriptures and praying for her loved ones to begin her day. In her free time, she enjoyed talking with family, yoga, cooking, coloring, and doing word searches. Additionally, her needlepoint, mending, and sewing abilities were renowned amongst her loved ones.

Josefina will be remembered fondly by her 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, as well as her two surviving siblings, family members, and countless friends. Her family honors her wishes by returning her to California for burial at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA.

A visitation in chapel will occur Friday, September 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary Service from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.

Josefina will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Guadalupe Terrace; Gate: 1, Section: 5, Lot: 1027, Grave: 2.
