What the world has lost, heaven has gained. We'll see you on the other side my friend.

You were cool. Laid back welcoming and caring. You were friendly and I always felt safe around you, as if I could trust you with just about anything.

Take care John. Thank you for being kind to me. I’ll carry your memory in my heart.

My Condolences to All of the VASQUEZ Family: I am sad in my heart that my "Buddy"
Johnny, J.V. , Big John and Juanito the names,
I would call him over the years , is gone......
He is no longer with us, but the memories will
Always be there.... Like His Baseball Days as a youth , playing ball against men because the kids his own age were no competition... Johnny was the BEST..... Then his college days, playing (Pitching) against guys who went on to become professional ball players...
My Juanito he was the Best....
Then all the baseball was over and J.V. became an Engineer for L.A. ........... Big John was a Good Man, always there if you needed him.... I think about you always, I talk about you still, you will never be Forgotten, I will hold you close within my heart and there you will remain, until we Meet again...
Love your cousin David

so sorry to hear of the passing of John Vasquez. He was a good friend and co-worker while working at the City of LA. John, Pastor, and I often went to lunch together to get cocido at a Mexican restaurant on 3rd st. God bless his family.--George Potter

I will always smile when I think of John. Although his time here was cut short, the impact he had on so many friends, colleagues, and clients is immeasurable.
Doing for others is what I remember most about John. He was always there to help.
From a friend standpoint, Family, Dodgers, and Poker.
From a client standpoint, I did not always agree with his code interpetations, but in the end he was (usually) right.
If you were straight up with him, he would bend over backwards to assist you, if you were not he would let you know in no uncertain terms.
He taught my associates the correct interpretations of the codes and how to conduct themselves during the complex permitting process (something that schools do not teach).
I am comforted to know that he and Dan Alvidrez will now be engineering a new support structure for the pearly gates, explaining why the old ones need to be replaced, and that there are no nonconforming rights.
Like I said, I smile when I think of John, and I (like so many others) will miss him terribly
My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends

I appreciate John as a person who you can trust to share good and not so good times. He had a lot of empathy for others. I have lost a good friend.

Vasquez family,

My sincere and heartfelt condolences. John's passing leaves a huge and sad gap in the LADBS team.
I always enjoyed my conversations with him, usually about food, family and fun times. He was quick to share a joke, a story or some funny picture on his phone. He never refused when I asked for help with a work problem. He was a very generous person who always had time to make a silly comment to make me laugh or to take the time to answer my question. He is very much missed. RIP JV!

I just want to thank you guys for being apart of my life . I always did and still see John as a mentor/uncle close to our family . I met all of you guys the first day we moved to Rancho in 1987. From that day forward it was solidified in stone that we would be friends forever. No words can describe the impact John made on my life . I love that guy. He will never be forgotten and I look forward to when we meet again. “JV watch over us and especially the fam” me and antho will continue the legacy!
