Jane was an enthusiastic world traveler who loved volunteering and taking care of others. She loved music and dancing and will be fondly remembered as the life of the party wherever she went. More than that, she loved being a mother and grandmother. She was Auntie Jane to many, Grandma to Ethan, and simply Mom to Arvan, Sirius, Yunkai, and Brandon.
With her family and friends scattered throughout the world, she was known for hopping flights on short notice to be there for anyone who needed her, whether they needed a life lesson, a dance lesson, gardening assistance, or simply a hug. She also enjoyed simply exploring the world and did so with her family and friends, many of whom she had known since she was a child growing up in Hong Kong.
As a Pasadena Tournament of Roses member since 2004 and a 19-year member of Pasadena Elks Lodge #672, community engagement was a big part of her life. She was a medical doctor and HIV scientific researcher, a first-generation American immigrant, a healthcare volunteer, a great mom, and an incredible grandmother. Her community and family contributions, as well as her personal achievements, are impossible to list here in full. She was vibrant, full of life, and appeared almost fearless. In reality, she was just incredibly brave.
A private celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks to honor her incredible life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to do so instead make a donation to The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens or the American Cancer Society.
