passed away at the age of 71. Gladys was born May 10, 1949 in Marianao, Havana, Cuba. She
immigrated to the US in 1968 and met her husband Nelson W. Castro. They married April 14, 1973 and
raised two daughters, Marcia and Mara, and one son, Nelson. She was a breast cancer survivor. She
worked at Bank of America for around 30 years, moving up all the way to a loan officer; but quit to focus
on her family. Gladys was the kind of person to give all she could for those she loved. She took care of
everyone, acting as a pillar of strength and love for her family. She was naturally welcoming to all those
who entered her life, creating a warm and loving environment no matter who you were. She had a sense
of humor in all situations, even with the grumpiest of people like her moody grandchildren, she never
failed to lighten any room she was in. She loved to knit and sew for people, often giving her beautiful
creations of blankets, purses, beanies and scarves away as gifts. Gladys was a giving person, helping
those she could through knitting or through whatever small donation she could manage. She was an avid
reader and TV watcher, which she passed on to her daughter and granddaughter. She was known by all to
be warm, kind, and a truly beautiful soul, who impacted everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Gladys was preceded in death by her mother Zoila, her father Jesus and her brother Jesus. She is survived
by her brother, Reynaldo, her husband, Nelson, her children Marcia, Nelson and Mara, as well as her
son-in-law Victor, and her grandchildren Jacob, Natalie and Violet.
