Gil was born on May 8, 1931 in Los Angeles, CA. Through countless adventures, lifelong quests of knowledge, raising his children, and all other facets of his life, Gil was steadfast in leading by example. An accomplished and respected business owner for over 60 years, Gil’s name was widespread throughout the San Gabriel Valley and the Greater Los Angeles area. Each and every relationship he made, business or personal, shared a common trait: Gilbert never said a mean-spirited word about anybody; those who knew Gilbert, whether briefly or for a lifetime, would consistently comment on his genuinely kind nature.
Despite his full schedule between family and business, Gil found time to enjoy his passion of aviation. Gil was delighted at any opportunity to be in the air: flying himself and his family in his Cessna P120, flying with friends, or sharing his passion of flying at the flight school that he co-owned with his brother. While on the ground, Gil embraced his artistic side by enjoying classical music and film. Gil’s appreciation of classical music was not limited to listening: Gil was an exceptionally talented pianist, honing his skills since the age of four.
Gil was preceded in death by his brothers George and Edmund as well as his son Mark. He is survived by his wife Mary; his sister Sylvia, his sons Bert and Larry; his daughters Kathryn and Myra; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in the Memorial Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, CA on October 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
