Genoveva Salazar

Genoveva grew up in Minatitlán with her parents Jesus Arciniega and Guadalupe Figueroa. She had nine siblings and was the eldest daughter. She began working to help her family at a young age. Genoveva learned the best recipes and how to cook from her mother. She came to the California in 1971 and started working as a housekeeper in Tujunga. She married Hilario Salazar and had 5 children: Lourdes, Lorena, Esperanza, Hilario Jr. and George.

Genoveva was a hard working woman. She juggled working and raising her 5 children. She was a loving mother who always instilled the importance of being honest and striving to be the best in all you did. Once she retired she became even more of a busybody, never sat still and was always cooking and cleaning. Genoveva enjoyed going to church, listening to religious music, taking walks, building puzzles, reading and gardening. She loved going back to her home town Minatitlán, Colima and relaxing in her parent’s home with her siblings.

Genoveva enjoyed when family visited her. She showed her love to her siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews by cooking their favorite meals. Her homemade refried beans will be greatly missed by all who had a taste of them.

Genoveva loved her grandchildren unconditionally. She was able to pamper all 10 of them; Rafael, Adrian, Abby, Samantha, Joel, Sebastian, Anthony, Emma, Emilio and Lorenzo. (Plus so many others that loved her like a grandmother) She loved taking care of them and cooking their favorite meals. Genoveva had love for all those that crossed her path. Her generosity touched the lives of those that lived near and far from her. She will be greatly missed by all!

Genoveva nació el 20 de octubre de 1948 en Minatitlán, Colima, Mexico. Falleció el 3 de septiembre del 2024 a la edad de 75 anos en Los Alamitos, CA.

Genoveva creció en Minatitlán, Colima al lado de sus padres Jesus Arciniega y Guadalupe Figueroa. Tuvo 9 hermanos/hermanas y era la mayor de las mujeres. Ella comenzó a trabajar desde una temprana edad para ayudar a su familia. Aprendió cómo cocinar y las mejores recetas de su mama. Se vino a California en 1971 y comenzó trabajar limpiando casas en Tujunga. Se caso con Hilario Salazar y tuvo 5 hijos: Lourdes, Lorena, Esperanza, Hilario Jr. y George.

Genoveva fue una mujer muy trabajadora. Ella supo combinar el tiempo entre su trabajo y criar a sus cinco hijos. Fue una madre amorosa que siempre inculco la importancia de ser honesto y esforzarse por ser lo mejor en todo lo que hagas. Una vez que se jubilo, se volvió mas trabajadora, nunca se ponía quieta siempre cocinando y limpiando. A Genoveva le gustaba ir a la iglesia, escuchar canciones religiosas, ira a caminar, armar rope cabezas, leer y atender su jardín. Le encantaba regresar a su pueblo de Minatitlán, Colima y relajarse en la casa de sus padres con sus hermanos y hermanas.

A Genoveva le gustaba que su familia viniera a visitarla. Les mostraba el amor a sus hermanos, cuñados, cuñadas, sobrinos y sobrinas al cocinarles su comidas favoritas. Todos los que tuvieron la oportunidad de probar su famosos frijoles fritos los extrañaran.

Genoveva amaba a sus nietos incondicionalmente. Ella pudo apapachar a los 10 que tuvo: Rafael, Adrian, Abby, Samantha, Joel, Sebastian, Anthony, Emma, Emilio and Lorenzo. (Mas todos los demás que la amaban como una abuela). Le gustaba cuidarlos y cocinarles sus comidas favoritas. Genoveva tenia amor para todos los que cruzaban su camino. Su generosidad toco las vidas de aquellos que viven cerca y lejos de ella. Todos la extrañaremos mucho!
