Frank King Yueh Chang

Born in Qingdao, China | August 8, 1948 — August 30, 2024

Frank Chang, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. He was born in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, China and grew up in Taiwan and graduated from the National Taipei University of Technology.

At 29, he bravely embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to Pennsylvania, United States, to pursue higher education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. To support himself through school, he worked tirelessly in restaurants while earning his B.S. in Computer Science—a true testament to his determination and work ethic. After graduating, he drove across the country and eventually settled in Los Angeles, California, where he started his own successful computer hardware repair and retail business, which he operated for over 20 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his craft touched the lives of many, both in his community and among his loyal customers. He retired in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

Frank was a dedicated and responsible husband and father who always put his family first. He was a source of strength and guidance, providing for his loved ones with unwavering love and sacrifice. He was their rock and was always depended on with wisdom, support and a quiet resilience that brought them comfort. He leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness and stability that will be forever treasured.

Frank was a talented cook, famous for his holiday meals, especially his signature spaghetti and prime rib, along with his cherished green onion pancakes and homemade Chinese meat buns that his family looked forward to each year. Frank spent his retirement years enjoying the simple pleasures of life such as cooking, gardening and enjoying the company of his beloved grandchildren, Jonas and Ella. He loved nothing more than watching them grow and teaching them the values that had guided him for so long.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Gloria; his daughter Annie and son-in-law Kris; his sons Howard and Jeffrey and their wives, Michelle and Myra. His two grandchildren, Jonas and Ella, brought him endless joy. He is also survived by two sisters, a brother, and five nephews and nieces as well as a large extended family, who will forever cherish his memory.

Though he has left this world, Frank will always be remembered for his kindness, his love of family, and his incredible journey from humble beginnings to a life filled with love and accomplishment. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all.

Rest in peace, dear Frank. You will always be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 3:00pm PST at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel Whittier, CA 90601. Upon arrival, enter GATE 1 up the main road and follow the blue line painted along the curb to Memorial Chapel.
