David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Hall and his four children, from former wife Mary Ann: Gregory, Constance, Zachary and David as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and sister Tamara Vought.
David was a son of Utah and quite proud of his origin and family history. He is a direct descendant of Richard Hall, who arrived in New England during the Great Puritan migration from England in the early 17th century. The Hall family moved to Southern California in the late 1940s and settled in Downey, where he attended Downey High School and lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track, graduating in 1955.
He then attended the University of Denver and Compton Junior College and played on the football team as fullback. Their team won the Junior Rose Bowl in 1955. David accepted a scholarship to Idaho State University in Pocatello and graduated in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He worked for several machine tool businesses, traveling extensively to Europe, Asia, and South America before starting his own business, Hall Machinery Systems.
David and Carol married in 1983 and traveled to many wonderful locations, including year after year to their honeymoon locale of Cabo San Lucas.
Although David battled Huntington’s Disease for many years, with Carol’s constant care he was able to continue to have an active life. Carol, with the help of dedicated care givers, and his latest labrador, Salina, helped make his life more rewarding and comfortable in his final years.
David will be remembered for his warmth, generous spirit, kind heart, sharp intellect, as a distinguished businessman, but most of all as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly donate to the Huntington Disease Society of America, www.hdsa.org, or to a charity of your choice.
