We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend. She was thoughtful, understanding, and incredibly kind — the type of person who made everyone feel seen and valued. Her love for animals, her creativity, and the way she put her heart into every birthday gift and every moment will always stay with us. She touched so many lives with her compassion and gentle spirit. We will truly miss her, and we’ll carry her memory with us always.

My sincere condolences to the family. I wanted to share my favorite memory of Cheryl Read. She was my high school history teacher. She was one of the few teachers at school that allowed her students to stay inside the classroom with her during lunch time. Which thinking back may have been inconvenient for her but it also showed she cared for her students a lot. She would also make small jokes in class which everyone would always laugh. There was a time during class in which I was talking too much with an old acquaintance and Mrs. Read stood in front of us and asked to join in conversation. She overheard some names she didn’t recognize and I mentioned they were nick names in our friend group. And instead of reprimanding us, she simply laughed and reminded us to stay focused on the lessons while using our nicknames. We both apologized and definitely stayed quiet for the remainder of the lesson. She was an amazing teacher and I am very grateful for her for allowing me (and my friends ) to stay inside the classroom with her during her lunches.
