As I sit here and reminisce about my favorite teacher, I am grateful that I got the chance to sit down and explain to her what she meant to me. She was my business teacher. My fondest memory is her bringing me back to class every time I would "cut" hers. Yes in that 'ol Mercedes Benz. She taught me professionalism and poise. She taught me typing and ten key proficiency...and yes without looking...but most of all she always believed in me...she took time to talk to me; to guide me...the best class all four years of high school. Her home was always open when I would travel to California. She was so full of wisdom and love for her students. I will never forget Ms. Freeny.
If you have a teacher that has impacted your life in any way, tell them while they can still hear it. Let their family know that they have touched the lives of many people, including yours.

I’ve been trying to contact you regularly since late 2018…I knew something was wrong when you didn’t call me back. I refused to think the worse after cousin Brenda and friend DeeDee passed on around the same time in 2019. I have TRULY missed you.

Cavon Bonita Freeny-Brown affectionately known as Mikki. My “SISTAH”, my school-mate, my road dog and more importantly,  MY FRIEND. 

Remembering the many trips down the 405 to UCLA  in the midst of heavy traffic to attend our Vocational Education Classes,  and  our many trips to Palm Springs for a little rest and relaxation; and how can I forget the time we spent together at the casinos, or your BEAUTIFUL WEDDING! We laughed together, we cried together, we lost and we won! Most importantly we maintained a 40 plus years of friendship that was cut much too short when you made your transition! Missing you my friend. Rest in PARADISE Mic-Mic. I love you. 💕

I met Mikki at shortly after our sisters Wanda and Carolyn's class reunion.  You see we all went to school together.  Mikki, Wanda, and Carolyn were all older than me and my Mom insisted that I tag along all the time.  I know now it was to keep an eye on Carolyn.  I really didn't want to accompany Carolyn to the reunion, but I did and that's when I met met Lonnie for the second time.  We dated for a while after that and then I went with him to Las Vegas to Mikki and Brown's wedding.  Mikki soon had Jason and Lonnie and I got married and then Melissa was born.  It was our children that truly brought us together, Jason and Melissa.  We did so many things together with the two of them, Easter Sunday Sunrise service, and they were the bride and groom in a Tom Thumb wedding at Cross Roads.  After Brown died, Mellisa and I would go with Mikki, Wanda and Denny to ALL of Jason's games.  We truly enjoyed each others company and developed a strong sister like relationship.  I will miss my friend, but I'm grateful that I can be here for Jason, Melissa, Alma, Chris, Lonnie and Lawrence.  Mikki had a strong presence in all of our lives and she will be forever remembered for her smile, love and compassion she showed towards others. 

Cavon aka Mikki was a classy lady.  My  sister-in-law , travel buddy and friend.  We shared so many things together. Our children from birth to little ones to grown folk, birthday parties, deaths, and so many events in between.  Thank you for all the people I’ve met over the years just because I was your friend. I miss you and will continue to miss you forever.  But, as your son said, “You are with us, you are in us.”  We will never let you you go. Thank you for being in my life. I know I’m a better woman because of you.   Love Mary 

My heart bleeds for the lost of an old friend from the old neighborhood. Cavon was always amicable , intellectually astute and insightful. She is missed.
