Hello Judy and Ernie and family and Al's family, too.
I last saw Al abt 2 years ago on a field trip to city hall. He told me he had worked hard to use his prothetic limb efficiently.  He apologized if he was keeping me from walking more quiclky.
I laughed and told him I could barely keep up. 
I'll remember him as opinionated and full of life and I'm sorry we lost him to this firestorm if a virus.

I knew you as Freddie, you were my older cousin and I grew up hanging out with Ernie because Ernie and I were only two days apart.  I remember Judy and all the Easter Egg hunts, your band practices and parties at Mama Nata’s  home in San Gabriel. My  regret is not having kept in touch with the Hernandez side of the family after my Dad, John Paul Hernandez passed away... I was 13 years old at the time and just recently was informed of your passing by my sister Lorraine who found out from our cousin, Cindy Salazar.  Our sincerest condolences to the Family and friends... Al as I have come to find out was how he was known from the memories I have read was well liked, respected and loved  by everyone who knew him...and looked so much like his Dad... our Uncle Chendo .  Our only consolation is that he is now in the company of all who have passed before him and re-united with his Dad, and Moms Belia and Stella. May You Rest In Peace and May all who were Blessed to have him be a part of your life remember him and Smile because from what little I know of Freddie would most likely be what he would want you all to do❤️🙏🏻

Al, may you be in heavens place of music playing your bass to your hearts content. You were a "brother" to Paul, who had so many memories of all you two shared, good and bad. You always had a smile and kind word to all you came across. You will be missed cousin.

Al you were one of my best friends. you will never be forgotten. we have had alot of great times and great memories that i will forever cherish. rest in paradise my friend. love ya always

My brother Freddy always had a smile for all of us, he loved to remember the old days and talk about what a good childhood we had.  We were all truly blessed.  I know he missed my parents dearly as we all do, I'm so happy that he will see them again.  I always promised to save him a seat at the Thanksgiving table, and we always had a good laugh.  He always had an encouraging word for my children and I truly appreciated that.  Age agreed with Freddy, he really did become better with age.  My brother will forever hold a place in our hearts and memories.  He will be missed. 

I first remember Al when he joined our elementary school class in the 5th or 6th grade.    even though he was new he fit right in and never missed a step and it may have helped that he had a cousin in the same grade that we guys were tight with. It was also that cousin Johnny "vato" Hernandez who Al teamed up with around sophomore year in high school and also teaming with cousins Paul And Eli to form a rock and roll band called  "Los PRIMOS."  This band was as good as it gets for our high school needs and we all loved their performances and cheered them on when they competed in various "Battle of the Bands" competitions.   As we muddled  our way through the rest of high school shenanigans we found ourselves faced with impending adult life.   in those years i found my way over to Al and brother Earnie's house as their parents home was only 2 blocks away from where i was living in my parents home. I would stop by their home often and chat with the whole  family who were typically out in their back yard.    we would typically talk cars as i was driving a number of different hot rods in those days.    i remember feeling very welcome at their residence by all the family.   as i read some of the tributes to Al  it all came back so clear and fondly. After so many years it was joy to reconnect with Al. It was fun talking about our youthful misadventures from our days at Mission High School. It was great getting together for the breakfasts or lunches, especially when more of our old friends could join in.

Remembering the cruising around in Al’s blue ’56 Chevy, his police explorer days and his love of music brought smiles. And it wasn’t just covering the old times with Al. We talked about where our lives were at now, beyond the challenges of health, like the love of family and friends. Al was so looking forward to the future with getting a new lighting company off the ground with a good friend that he was mentoring.

Even during the quarantine, Al would keep in touch via calls or texts and was so looking forward to all of us getting together again. That wasn’t meant to be. And that left us all deeply saddened.

When I shared with my family about Al’s passing, our son said that he’d like to hear about those “youthful misadventures” as a way to keep Al’s memory alive. I like that.

I’m so happy for your reunion with your Mom and Dad.  Your Mom Belia loved you so much and now you’ll be together.  You are so lucky you’ll have two moms in heaven.  God bless you!

Al was a father to me. We went on many road trips and adventures.
 He taught me so much about life. I could always count on him for advice and everything else in life. As he always counted on me as well. He knew he could call me anytime and i was there to help. We had a great friendship. I am going to miss his humor, laugh and smile. He loved CARLOS SANTANA and Tex-Mex music. Al left his mark in my life forever. I love you Al Hernandez. Rest Easy my dear friend.  This is a picture of him having Ice Tea and i had a beer.

Al and I go back about 16 years. We worked on lighting for about 4 of the companies he started. We shared a love for bass guitar and local music. 
Back in the day, we used to drink big cups of coffee from 7-11, and meet at the "conference room" (aka The Wagon Wheel) for afternoon meetings . 
I love him dearly. Rest in peace my brotha. You were a pioneer, I learned a lot from you , and you supported me when I was at my worst. I'll never forget you. 

Alfred Jesus Hernandez, age 70, of Baldwin Park], passed away on January  8,2021 after a brief battle with Covid.  
Alfred (Al) was born on October 30, 1950 to Rosendo and Belia Hernandez in Alhambra, Calif.  After graduating from San Gabriel Mission High School in 1969, go Pioneers!! He went on to study at Pasadena City College.
After graduation, his first job was as a customer representative for Pacific Bell beginning a 40 plus year career in customer service, leading him into a career as an industrial lighting manufacturer and developer in his later life.  He started and developed product lines for three separate lighting companies in which he was the principal. At the time of his death he was in the planning stages of a company utilizing cutting edge battery storage and solar power for residential use. Al was and was well respected in his industry. 
Al was a friend to all he met and always ready to share whatever he had with those he cared about. He was giving of his time and talents to all his friends and even strangers.  He treated everyone he met as family and family to him meant everything. 
Al is preceded in death by his parents Rosendo and Stella Hernandez and his birth mother Belia Hernandez.
He is survived by his children Andreya Hernandez, Walter Bueno, and Rebecca  Hernandez,  Brothers , Ernest ( Angela),Mario (Julie) and Aaron (Judy); Sisters , Judy(Gregory), Evelyn(Vincent),Marie. Grandchildren; Nicolas Bueno, Lauren Bueno, Ralph Martel, Crystal Martel and Jessie Martel  Paternal Aunt “Lupe” and numerous nieces’, nephews and cousins.    He will also be missed by several friends and especially by his BDM family Tony, Angel, David, John and Tim.
Graveside Service to be conducted on April 1st at 1:00 pm, at Rosehills Memorial Park and Mortuary, Whitter,Ca. 
 Masks are Mandatory at graveside and Social Distancing will be enforced
