Albert Gomez

Albert Gomez, 85, passed away on December 29, 2024, in Fullerton, California, after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sharon (Williams) Gomez, daughter Sherri (Gomez) Cuthbertson and her husband Mike Cuthbertson, son Mark Gomez and his wife Lorena Gomez, as well as four grandchildren: Ian Cuthbertson, Kasen Cuthbertson and his wife Cassandra Cuthbertson, Hailee Gomez, and Adaline Gomez. Albert was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Ainsley Cuthbertson.

Albert had a long and dedicated career in the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, where he worked for over 40 years. Beginning as a box-boy, Albert’s hard work and commitment allowed him to rise through the ranks to become a grocery manager. He retired in 1994 at the age of 55, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to his community.

A proud veteran, Albert served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. Stationed in Missouri and Georgia, he was part of the heavy equipment operator’s unit (USAR control GP) and earned recognition as a sharpshooter. During his service, Albert forged many lifelong friendships, and he remained proud of his military service, which he viewed as an honor and a privilege.

Albert’s greatest joys were his family and his love for travel. He cherished time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and extend family and found immense joy in exploring the many beautiful and diverse corners of the United States. His adventures and stories will live on in the hearts of his family, who will forever remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Albert’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM in the Rose Hills Visitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 1:00PM in the Hillside Chapel. Graveside service immediately following.

Albert will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Meadowbrook 2; Gate: 1, Section: 1, Lot: 20314, Grave: 1.
