Growing up on 6th ave. South Central LA. There were 3 Super Heros; My Dad, Mr. Allen and Mr. Gardener. 3 men who worked their ass off, raising their families in the toughest city during the toughest times. Mr. Gardener did work no mire moral could or wanted to do. He was a giant to me and my friends growing up and he will be forever remembered as such.

I knew Mr. Gardner through four of his kids (Gwen, Howard, Lynn, and Martin) at Crenshaw High School and am still in touch with Gwen and Howard to this day.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gardner on several occasions, and always admired his strength and dignity.

I know Gwen and Howard quite well, and I can see clearly that their parents have had a lot to do with the strength of character that they exhibit.

I am very happy that I had those opportunities to meet you, Mr. Gardner, and It is with a heavy heart that I write this message.
