

Chris was born November 26, 1939, in Soldier, Jackson County, Kansas to Chris Isaac Cox of Missouri and Eula Marie Shipman of Arkansas. Soldier, Kansas is where he spent is his infant years, growing up on the family farm.
At age 3, his family relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1942. Here he attended school while working in a grocery store, ultimately beginning a career as a local truck driver for Swift Transportation (California) where he made most of his life long friends and memories, keeping up the friendships with annual Swift drivers reunions. He later worked for Santa Fe Railroad and eventually retiring in 1995.
He met and married his loving wife Gloria Felix Cox, on July 26,1964 in Nevada. They created a beautiful life together, raising a family and traveling throughout the United States. Their marriage consisted of 58 remarkable years. Together they visited almost every National parks west of the Mississippi, and even drove all the way to Anchorage, Alaska. This was via Delta Junction from Arcadia, California and fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams of driving the full length of the ALCAN highway. His life was always full of enjoying the outdoors, traveling, fishing, exploring remote areas in his trademark four-wheel-drive vehicles, he especially enjoyed the desert. He liked working in the garden, chasing the peacocks off his lawn, and listening to classical music in his garage every afternoon. His favorite activity, of course, was splitting and sorting, and creating his beloved wood piles. In the winter, he loved to use this piles to create a fire every night.
He has always been loyal to his family. He is survived by his wife Gloria Felix Cox, his daughter Michelle, son-in-law Richard, grandsons Wyatt and Maverick Smith, his son Chris Roy Cox and his family of Yvette, Mike and Dylan, his sister Opal.
His greatest treasure, was his unparalleled sense of humor, which even in his last days battling pneumonia never was lost.
He is loved and will never be forgotten We love you Dad & Papa, we miss you so very much.
