Warlie Gomeri Corteza passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 83 in Pasadena, California. She was born on November 11, 1942 in Alingsolong, Iloilo, Philippines. Warlie dedicated her life to her family, faith, and community.
In 1968, she married her childhood friend, Guerrero “Gerry” Matta Corteza. Together, they immigrated to the United States in 1972 and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they raised their three children, Ceazar “Nonoy,” Julie “Nene,” and Guerrero Jr. “Jun Jun.” By 1978, they had settled in Pasadena, California.
Warlie was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish Church and the Pasadena-Altadena Filipino American Association. She loved organizing social
and religious events, including dinners, dances, and academic award ceremonies for students. Known for her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, she was a hardworking
businesswoman who loved to travel and dance. She especially enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, Gerry.
She is survived by her children, Ceazar and his wife Elna, Julie Anne, Guerrero Jr., and her grandchildren, Isabell, Nicholas, Christine, Gavin, Sienna, and Gabriel. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and community.
Visitation will be held at Rose Hills Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601, US, on September 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at St Elizabeth, 1879 North Lake Avenue, Altadena, 910013043, US, on September 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Final resting will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, in the Garden of Commemoration, Gate 1, Row 21, Lot 5524, Space 1.
