Vickie met the man of her dreams, Michael Garcia, when she was in kindergarten and Mike was in the 3rd grade. They were married on Valentines Day 1948 and spent 61 memorable years together, raising two daughters, Rosemary and Elaine. Weekend trips in the pickup camper to Rosarita Beach and elsewhere were favorite times for the family.
Parties at the Garcia home were always happy, memorable experiences. Vickie made Christmas extra special, giving hugs to all who came into her home, with food and drink ready to serve until everyone left, many times just a few hours before sunrise.
Vickie was an accomplished cook, whipping up meals at lightning speed. She loved her pets and cared for them with so much attention. Vickie thoroughly enjoyed quiet sunsets in her backyard admiring her plants and colorful flowers.
Vickie truly loved her family and was very proud of her daughters, Rosemary and Elaine, and their families. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, many times making sure they walked out of her home with a little spending money, care package or Tootsie Roll Pops. She made everyone feel at home whether they were family or not.
Mike was her “one and only.” For 61 years they were inseparable, whether it was carpooling to work, going to the market, running errands, eating dinner, or just watching TV. They always sat next to each other.
Mom is a treasure and an inspiration to all her family. Her strength, will, determination, and gifts of love and caring will forever be remembered. She was and is an Angel.
