Sharlene Dennis, a woman of deep faith, gentle grace, and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 80. She departed surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Mission Viejo, California.
Born on September 6, 1945, in Whittier, California, Sharlene carried a warmth and light that touched everyone she met. She later moved to San Jose, California, where she lovingly raised her family, filling her home with patience and devotion. In her later years, she retired to Orange County, enjoying the quiet community of Mission Viejo.
Sharlene spent a long, fulfilling career as a piano teacher. While she taught students of all ages, she had a special gift for teaching children. She didn’t just share her skills; she instilled a lifelong appreciation for music in her students, mentoring them with a gentle guidance that left a lasting imprint on their lives.
Above all, Sharlene was a devoted Christian. Her faith in God was the anchor of her life, guiding her daily actions and shaping her kind, compassionate spirit. She lived her life with a quiet strength and an unwavering dedication to her beliefs.
Sharlene’s greatest joy was her family, to whom she was entirely dedicated. She is survived by her loving husband, David Dennis; her two children, Donald Dennis (Leyla) and Lori DeVos (Steve); her cherished grandchildren, Ya Qin DeVos, Yasmin Dennis, and Soraya Dennis; and her dear sister, Joan Kozak(Marc).
She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and patience that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many students she inspired over the years.
A Funeral Service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Memorial Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601, US, on June 21, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A private burial will take place in the Garden of Remembrance.
