Salvador was born to Amador Santoyo and Salud Castro, he was the second eldest of 11 children. During the great depression they packed up the family and relocated to Cortazar in the state of Guanajuato.
At the young age of 13 Salvador began driving a bus; taking passengers from town to town. It was during one of these trips in a simple town named Victoria that Salvador met his future wife Albertina Arredondo.
They were married in 1945. Salvador and his wife along with their three children immigrated back to the United States settling in Los Angeles. Later an additional four children were born to them. Salvador and Albertina shared a total of 20 grand children and 18 great grandchildren.
Over the last 30 years Salvador lived with his sister Carmen who recently passed and are now sharing a place in heaven together.
