Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. He was stationed at Ft Ord, CA, then for a time in Germany, which he loved, and also at Ft. Hood, TX, which he didn’t. One of his proud moments was being awarded Driver of the Quarter of the armored vehicle he drove, for which he received a Letter of Recognition and an engraved lighter. Everything he did, he did to perfection.
He was a collector of many things. Among them antiques, all things miniature, old locks and keys, nativities, and outhouses. He always had any tool needed, even if he never used it or knew exactly what it was for.
Family meant everything to Richard and you knew he cared when he gave you advice or a lecture. He was always honest and forthright, never mincing words and said exactly what he thought.
He will be so deeply missed by his family and friends, but knowing he is with his Lord and Savior, no longer suffering, is our greatest joy. And we know we will be reunited with him again one day.
